DRIVING UP MOUNT HOPKINS (Part 2)

Narrow road, hard to get by other vehicles. But worth the view.
DRIVING UP MT HOPKINS, ARIZONA (Part 1)
Просмотров 5День назад
Mt Hopkins is north of Nogales, Arizona, near TUBAC. There is an observatory up top, fairly obvious when driving through the area. You will see a white building at the top of the mountain...That's it! The road is narrow, and it is a problem going past other vehicles going the other direction. I will also mention that supplies for the facility are delivered, so there are large trucks coming and ...
ARIZONA LIGHTNING

Monsoon season in Arizona is always interesting. This is video from one evening storm coming through. More vocal than wet... Then that big bolt hit nearby. You can hear that spark just before the boom. And then the car horns...
MONTANA SNOW SHOVELING
Просмотров 1166 дней назад
A few years ago I was working at a big storage facility in Great Falls, Montana. We were open every day, so when it snowed I had to call in the snow crew to shovel the driveways clear. Normally they did pretty good, but one day there was a minor accident. You will see 2 different views of it! Also Mona the cat sees her first snow.
DRIVING ABOVE DUTCH HARBOR AFTER NEW SNOW
Просмотров 1528 дней назад
March 30, 2010. Taking a drive on a road that goes out through Pyramid Valley and eventually dead-ends at a trail head up to Pyramid Peak. After we turn around, the road goes back, and down to Westward Seafoods, right on Captain's Bay, Alaska.
ARIZONA WEATHER and CATS

Camping at Roosevelt Lake, Arizona, traveling with two cats. Dutchie and Fluff. Some nice weather scenes in a beautiful area! Had a little fun with the cats near the end.
ARIZONA BRUSH FIRE

A brush fire near Globe, Arizona, blocked my way to Roosevelt Lake, where I had been camping. All I could do was sit back and watch the action. The fire department took care of it in no time.
BIRDTAIL ROAD, MONTANA

Already featured here in the past, Birdtail was a gravel road in good condition. It ran for many miles in West Central Montana. It snaked through huge ranches with huge views.
KENTUCKY STORM
Просмотров 12517 дней назад
It all started with odd clouds, like horizontal tornados. Some lightning and thunder. The rain starts up. Then the wind picks up and the rain starts pouring in sheets. The last few seconds get pretty interesting.
THE VIEW FROM HAYSTACK HILL
Просмотров 2318 дней назад
Dutch Harbor, Alaska. I lived on Haystack Hill, with great views of the bays. When the clip starts, you will see The Small Boat Harbor first, and in the distance is Unalaska Bay. We pan by Haystack Hill and look down Captain's Bay. I have thousands of photos of this view, over the four years I lived there. Each one looks different with the different weather conditions.

STORM APPROACH ON JULY 4th
Просмотров 27020 дней назад
Two storms came through on the holiday, but fireworks went off as scheduled later on.
not much of a trap when it's signed.
Selective enforcement.
Beautiful Fluff! 😍😿 I miss AZ. I remember only one year we were there when it rained so much but I don’t remember lightning like that.
You were lucky, it is fairly common during the monsoon.
Love Augusta♥️
I completely agree! Many nice roads go away from town and into mountains, and there is a nice golf course there for summer fun!
Amazing ⛈️
Thanks, another version is in the works.
I think my favorite pics of Dutchie were of her looking out over the highway at an Az sunset, and another sunset in Ak. They had a timeless feeling. I remember commenting on features of your photos on WU. It was gratifying to see how those elements combined into a memorable photo.
I like that opportunity when it arises, the cat looking off into the distance. I have a number of those pics.
I will happily enjoy my 107 degree day, I don't even like 70 degrees.
15 is too old to be getting into fights! RIP Dutchie... :( I think Tabbies are my favorite breed of cat, we had one for 12 years that had an affinity for high places like Dutchie did.
I hope Mona is OK, not too lonely. Remembering Fluffy on the mountain.
Dutchie was the most vocal cat I have had. But she saw a lot of new countryside, and explored it all.
Very sweet memorial. The meows got my kitties’ attention.
I’m so sorry! 15 is a good life though. We have a bonded pair of girl kitties now.
My wife and I stayed at a vacation rental on 200 near Lincoln for our 25th! Beautiful area, although it wasn't snowy, lol! That road on the left you see at 6:48 turns into a rocky goat path that we barely made it out of with my full sized truck!😲
Don't forget, Lincoln (or just outside of it) was where The UNIBOMBER was caught! I usually went through there regularly driving to Spokane, WA. Great ride.
that is not a speed trap. it is on the flat. in north west nevada. going south from the burg know as nixon you are on a high plato speed limit is 75 mph. then a steep down grade into a tribal town. quickly the signs pass by you saying 65, 55, 45, 35, 25, tribal cop. other than welfare this is the ONLY source of revue for the town. heck the cop shop is a shutdown liquor store. you can not stop in that town as there is no stores there. and the tribe hates any that are not of the tribe.
I have been there several times. When you say NW Nevada, I think that as starting at Gerlach and north from there. I will be returning as soon as I get an RV and can travel there. RT 140 is a favorite. Ever hear of the Stolpa family? Thanks for the comment.
👵Can't imagine what Lewis and Clark had 2 carry their canoes around, it must have been awesome. . . Lots of negative ions there which is always uplifting energy wise 4 people like myself. . . 🤗❤️🙏
One day i was in Indiana om i65. I was headed north and it start out 78 dagrees and the sun was out. Y the time i got to i80 it was 4 inches of snow. All 4 seasons on 7 hrs
I lived in Chicago as a kid, then Griffith, Indiana, later on. LAKE EFFECT snow is a bitch!
How much nicer would that river be if it did not have all that darn concrete trying to control it
Cheeeooott. I’ll trade ya. This Southern heat and humidity can pound sand.
I live in Oklahoma and I agree
I'll take that anytime compared to 95 degree temps with highdew points and high humidity
......gotta be tough to live in alaska.........just gotta be.......
It is. Not for everyone, but I loved it.
It's 90 degrees in Columbia SC today. Thanks for sharing. Wish I was there
I am actually in Kentucky now, I feel your pain.
Thanks for sharing Jay "snow in July" n a lil sleet. Your friend in Atlanta.
Thanks for the comment. There are hundreds of other films, and more will be coming. I plan on permanently hitting the road one day.
I first lived in Atlanta 50 years ago. My where did the time go.
Read a Climate change report Globle Warming movement works both ways in extremes 😮 Donald 1:48
We had a foot of snow here in southwest Montana 2 weeks ago
I was in Great Falls for a few years. Loved it. I took a lot of road trips on the ranch roads, even in winter. Of course, sometimes they were impassable, so the road trip was delayed. Montana is one of my favorite states. I would still be there except for the short golf season, just six months a year. I will return!
Still seeing effects from the southern hemisphere Hunga Tonga, and the Russian Volcano's on the Kamchatka Peninsula....
I will google that Hunga Tonga. My favorite view out at The Bering Sea was looking toward Kamchatka, just over the horizon!
So, what? It's Alaska! It does this.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for your opinion!
It can snow any month of the year in the Colorado mountains.
True with most mountains in the world. Mostly a factor of elevation. Most of the coastline mountains in AK are not very high, but they still get snow.
See any skiers? I may get the snowmobile out!
Must be climate change 👀 Does snow in July happen every decade?
I don't know about there. I lived in New Hampshire on the side of a mountain facing the coast 40 miles to the east of us. On July 4th in 1993 we had the wood stove burning trying to take the chill out of the air from a 2 day ice storm. That's why the Farmers Almanac published in Dublin New Hampshire is considered so accurate. The writer had been very ill and hadn't finished the July report for weather. Someone thought it would be funny to say they expected snow in that month. Guess what it snowed in July and the legend was born. Now You Know. AND Knowing is half the battle... The other half is unrelenting violence. 😅
P.S. The story happened a long time ago. The two events were a century or 2 apart.
Usually by July the only snow happened at higher elevations. The road that goes over the pass, as well as the one going up Mt Ballyhoo, were blocked by snow until early July. The taller mountains kept some snow all year.
@@JayEmpty In switzerland many pass roads are blocked by snow until august..
East out of Tucson on SP's Sunset Route.
Where's Shaneetown?
Shawneetown is west of Morganfield, Kentucky (or southwest of Evansville, Indiana) right on The Ohio River in Illinois. Small town, you need a decent map.
wtf are we doing here…..
Just enjoying a ride thru Illinois, listening to country music, wondering why this seemed like a good idea.

Beautiful drive!
I am glad you enjoyed it!
Impressive. . . !
I assume you are talking about the NM photo...Thanks. I love the open road.
I love Ripley. Cool little town.
I just drove through, but I will be back.
Sounds like a lot of little towns in Texas. They live off of "speeders" on state highways.
They do that a lot in Oklahoma too! Seems like that’s the only way they think they can make any money!
Conservative government in my home state Texas, that’s their way to keep taxes low. My friends in these great little Texas town fall for it. Small town south of Tyler had 500 residents a pd of 35. And yes, speeders thru your great towns should have tickets. They cheat on the speed limit, too. Good gosh, 75 mph limit on a two lane Texas farm to market road. The whole things very wrong. Wrong way to pay for your government.
...starring Red Fox of Amaknak👌
Hope you liked it!
Speed trap or were you just speeding? “Speed trap” is a defense lawyer’s term and they are 95% at an area where there is a significant drop in speed limit within a mile or two.
Why are defense lawyers in these areas so much?
@@JayEmpty 🤭Good one!
@@HaveaVH5150 Thanks. It was so wide open I never expected a speed zone. It was so wide open, 80 mph would be fine. There were NO cars around. That cop must have been awakened by my approach. But YES, I missed the 45 mph sign. It was just was very much out of place. And the cop got another sucker! He did his job.
@@JayEmpty I wouldn’t expect it either. Nothing around and definitely not a high accident area. Not worth ruining your day.
Hey and hello 👋🤗

Hey and hello 👋👋🤗🤗
🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂
Appears to me the driver should have seen the 45 mph sign and slowed down, he chose to stay above the posted speed limit and got caught, thats all what happen here. .
Seems like a petty and pitiful cash grab to me. I'd be ashamed to try and make excuses for that bro.
@@bradhuff256 I rewatched this video on full screen and the 45 speed limit sign is clearly posted. A speed trap, no. A 45 speed limit sign in the middle of nowhere is suspecious.
Now's when ya need a Mad Max Pursuit Interceptor to just turn right and cut through the desert.
Next time floor it.. ;)
Had that happen to me long ago as I hit 1 301 to get around a wreck on 95. Pulled me over and I thought 65 in a 55, could be worse. Officer said it is a 45 zone. Put my head on wheel and thought, great. He said I am going to give you a warning. Oh wow, where is it. You've had it. I know how it is for your outfit. Later on CB I heard he never gives a break. Can't say that any more.🦇
Amazing, thank you! The view past the eagles is incredible as well with the lake and mountains, gorgeous!
I had views of two bays, maybe the best site in town! I was so lucky to see it when I did. I sold a house to a Kevin Greene years ago...
@@JayEmpty You're a lucky man, thanks so much for sharing the wealth of beauty!
If I lived there I would go fishing everyday and share with the eagles.
I have photos of big groups of gathering eagles when a local fisherman cleans his catch in his yard.
Alaska?
Yes. Dutch Harbor. Eagles everywhere.
I remember taken that fairy as a young girl and it was free
It still is!
